The Sacrament of Marriage

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” CCC-1601

Weddings are celebrated at Corpus Christi Parish, South Tuggeranong at either of two locations:

Times for weddings can be organised through the Parish Office.

  • Holy Family Church holds approximately 550 people
  • Sacred Heart Church holds approximately 120

The Sacrament of Marriage is not celebrated on Sundays or during Holy Week.

To book a wedding in our parish, please contact the Parish Office 6291 6688 / tuggeranongsouth@cg.org.au to ensure the day and time you are requesting is available. Think about whether you would like your wedding to be a Nuptial Mass (includes Liturgy of the Eucharist and is approx. 1hr – 1hr 10 mins) or a Prayer Service (approx. 45 mins). We will make a temporary booking for you and email your details to the Priest. Once they have confirmed they can celebrate your wedding, we will be in touch with you to confirm an appointment to meet with them.

If you are having a priest who is not from our Parish, please ask them to contact the Parish Office so we can arrange for them to have access to the church and provide them with any assistance with setting up.

Your celebrant will speak to you about Marriage Preparation and the Government and Church paperwork which will be need to be completed. They will also discuss your liturgy and booklet, a rehearsal and assist with any other enquiries you may have. Your Celebrant will also need to sight both your Birth Certificate/Passport. You will need to contact the parish where you were Baptised within six months of the wedding and they will issue an extract from their Baptism register.

The fee for wedding can be paid electronically through our website using Donate tab and accessing BPoint. Please use “Wedding – your surnames and date of wedding” as a reference. You may then like to email us  with notification of your payment.

To know the church and celebrant fee, please contact the parish office.
