Cancer Support

Corpus Christi Parish Cancer Support Group

Our Group is a non-denominational, non-profit gathering of people who are travelling or have travelled the cancer journey. This includes those who have had a personal experience with cancer, those who have received or are receiving treatment and those who are carers for cancer sufferers.

Our group offers support and encouragement within a comfortable environment to talk about anything and everything cancer related and otherwise. The group shares experiences, questions, information and concerns with one another at a level of participation comfortable to each individual. We have a broad range of members including men and women of all ages, profession and experience, who share the challenge of cancer and caring for others.

The Cancer support Group was set up in mid 2006 by Margaret Church. It was formed as a self-supporting group helping cancer sufferers, carers, families and any other interested parties. In May we have the Biggest Morning Tea, with raffles donated by various businesses and clubs.  The money raised goes directly to the ACT Eden-Monaro Cancer Support Group which has financially supported some of our cancer patients. There are opportunities to attend weekend workshops and these have been very helpful.  The carers support us in a variety of ways, whether transporting patients to their appointments for chemotherapy, radiotherapy or doctors.  We have people who will visit, do shopping and household chores.  Some members spend time making phone calls, organising and just chatting.  We warmly welcome any interested persons and know that they will be helped in a caring and friendly atmosphere.

We meet on the first Wednesday of each month
at 2:30pm-4pm at Vikings Club, Erindale.
